Doug Fogg is the COO of the Sorenson Genomics family of companies: Sorenson Genomics and Sorenson Forensics. Since he assumed this role in 2001, Mr. Fogg has been directing the operations of Sorenson Genomics, including its effort to define new market segments, to develop new products and services, and to establish national and international distribution networks for its laboratory services.
Mr. Fogg came to Sorenson Genomics with extensive executive-level experience with a variety of international manufacturing companies. Prior to Sorenson Genomics, he served nine years as President and CEO of OTSCON Inc., a Japanese OEM manufacturer of automotive parts for Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru and Isuzu. Mr. Fogg holds a Masters of International Business Studies (MIBS) with emphasis in international financial management and Japanese from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Brigham Young University. He is fluent in Japanese and has earned a Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma.
Daniel S. Hellwig, MSFSLaboratory Director
Daniel Hellwig has been with Sorenson Forensics since 2009 and has more than a decade of forensic science DNA experience. Mr. Hellwig holds a Master of Science degree in forensic science (Marshall University) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry. Mr. Hellwig has been qualified as an expert in Forensic Serology/DNA Analysis in the states of Utah, New Mexico and Texas. He holds several certifications which include: FBI DNA QAS Auditor, ASCLD/LAB-International Assessor and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
In 2002, Mr. Hellwig began his forensic science career in the mtDNA section of the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory. He has also served as a Forensic Scientist in Serology/DNA in two public crime laboratories: New Mexico Department of Public Safety (Santa Fe, NM) and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (Bemidji, MN).
Mr. Hellwig has provided instruction to the Forensic Science community in educational, law enforcement, legal and forensic laboratory classroom settings, including a position as professor in the Chemistry Department at New Mexico Highland University in Las Vegas, New Mexico assisting with the creation of a Forensic Science Education Program Accreditation Commission (FEPAC).
Cami Green has worked in the forensic community for over 11 years garnering experience across the public and private sectors. From her beginning as a criminalist specializing in serology/DNA to forensic analyst and then on to the management of growing accounts, Ms. Green brings intense industry knowledge to Sorenson Forensics. Her wide range of DNA forensic science experience yields a unique perspective on the industry. Mrs. Green has been a DNA Analyst for the Utah Bureau of Forensic Services as well as for multiple private firms.
At Sorenson Forensics, Ms. Green currently serves as the Director of Technical Sales, managing sales of casework outsourcing, validation, and Lean Six Sigma consulting services. She has personally provided technical training instruction and demonstrations to the Forensic Science community. Ms. Green holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Utah (2000) and Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma (2013). Ms. Green is court-qualified in UT, CA, MT, OK and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Craig NoldeDirector of Biotechnical Solutions
Craig has over 10 years of forensic DNA experience in various capacities and has contributed technical expertise to developing, upgrading and enhancing forensic laboratories in the United States and around the world. Craig graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science, double-majoring in Biochemistry and Genetics.
Craig joined Sorenson Forensics in 2008 as the validation scientist. In 2009, Craig became involved with laboratory development in the U.S., Africa, Central/South America, and the Middle East. He has been integral to several projects ranging from lab design and setup, installations/ validations, and a variety of trainings.
As Director of Biotechnical Solutions, Craig oversees Sorenson’s internal validation projects and also travels throughout the world designing, managing and validating public laboratories’ chemistries, instruments and robotics projects. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt.
Ryan Buchanan, MBA, MSDNA Technical Leader
Ryan Buchanan has over 13 years of laboratory experience ranging from paternity and forensic casework, forensic method validations, forensic lab development, and microbiological analysis of environmental samples. Mr. Buchanan earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, a Master of Business Administration from Northern Arizona University, and a Master of Science in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with concentration in Forensic Science from the University of Florida.
He started his career in forensics in 2006 while working for a private DNA laboratory that specialized in relationship testing and forensic analysis. He holds several certifications which include: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, FBI DNA QAS Auditor, ASCLD/LAB-International Assessor, and DNA and Serology from the University of Florida. He has been a DNA Technical Assessor for the National Forensic Science Technology Center since 2009 and is a member of the International Society for Forensic Genetics. Ryan joined Sorenson Forensics in 2010 as a DNA Analyst and became DNA Technical Leader in 2012.
