Medical Examiners/Coroners

Medical examiners and coroners may need a private forensic lab like Sorenson Forensics when remains aren’t a straightforward identification- burned remains, mummified tissue, isolated bones or long-stored historical samples. Our team routinely works with bone, teeth and decomposed tissue generating DNA results and pairing them with reference samples when the reference samples are available.

We also assist in mass-fatality and disaster recovery efforts where identification is difficult. Our lab supports medical examiners by extracting DNA from damaged biological material and developing profiles that aid in identification. Sorenson Forensics is ANAB accredited under ISO/IEC 17025 and we provide validated procedures when testing degraded samples. We offer expedited turnaround times and CODIS upload if approved.
