Culpable, an investigative podcast, recently covered the case of Danny Violette whose 1998 death remains a mystery. After being missing for 11 days, Danny’s body was found in a cornfield with a ligature mark around his neck and a tire tread on his body.

Last year, the podcast team contacted Sorenson Forensics to re-examine the evidence using the M-Vac collection method, a wet vacuum that can potentially recover DNA from difficult surfaces. Testing costs were far less than the team had anticipated.

Funding was secured and legal representatives worked with law enforcement to have the evidence released for analysis. The items were officially received at our lab last month and testing is now underway.

Our role is to provide accredited, unbiased DNA testing to assist in the ongoing pursuit of answers.
